Here’s how to do it: Fill a jar about three-quarters of the way with vegetable oil and the rest with water. Add a few drops of food coloring. Then, break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into a few pieces and drop them into the jar. Finally, watch as the bubbles rise and fall, creating a lava lamp effect!
The experiment shows that oil and water don’t mix. Alka-Seltzer tablets create carbon dioxide bubbles when mixed with water, which causes the lava lamp effect. This experiment also teaches kids how to make predictions, observe changes, and draw conclusions from their observations. It’s a fun and interactive way to introduce scientific concepts to kids and encourage their curiosity about the world around them.
Rain Cloud in A Jar

To create your very own “rain cloud in a jar,” you’ll need a large jar, non-gel shaving cream, gel food coloring or washable watercolors, and pipettes or droppers.
Start by mixing the coloring with water, filling the jar with water, spraying a bunch of shaving cream in the jar, and then squirting the colored water on top of the shaving cream cloud. As the colored water seeps down through the shaving cream, it will resemble rain falling from a cloud.
Grass Heads
